Any questions about
the LCA internship?

What does the internship consist of?

We will provide you with knowledge, training and tools to understand and work with environmental impact assessment in a company. After the initial 2 weeks online training period by our teachers and tutors, you will be matched with a company where you will be completing the practical part of your internship. You will work fully remote or on-sight at your company during this period. You get to use Earthster free of charge during your internship and the practical part of your internship will include doing real-life environmental impact projects for your company.

When does the internship start?

We are running our internship program 4-5 times a year. You can check out the closest starting date from our Linkedin page. In order to participate in the internship, you should enrol at least 1 month in advance.

The first two weeks will be the training and the two months after that will be working in a company on their LCAs projects.

Can I combine this internship with my thesis work?

YES! Be prepared though that the time commitment for this internship is: 6h/day during the first two weeks of training and a minimum of 20h/week once you start working on your LCA project.

How are the interns matched with the companies?

You might be offered an internship project through us. The companies that we work with have all different criteria and wishes and based on them we present them with 3-5 candidates from our talent pool. Depending on the company they might want to interview you or talk to you on the phone. At the end of this process we want the company to choose you but also you to choose the company. After this you will sign an internship contract with the company and us and then you will be enrolled in our program.

What is the talent pool process like?

Stage 1 - Qualify for the talent pool

Start by applying via our webpage or Linkedin. If you match our basic requirements for the internship, you will be added to our talent pool of candidates.

Stage 2 - Find a project

In this stage, you are required to find a company/project for your internship. We provide all our talent pool candidates with templates, materials and support sessions to ensure you find the perfect project for you!

Stage 3 - Signing the contract

You have found an exciting project/company to do your internship at. Congrats! Now we will help you with sealing the deal and with the contracts!

Stage 4 - Enrollment in the program

When you agree with a company to start interning for them, we will enrol you in the internship program, and you get to start the LCA training. The program includes two weeks of training plus two months of unpaid internship at a company.

Who are the partnering companies?

We are collaborating with corporations, mainly in the manufacturing and consulting industries in Europe and North America.

What is LCA (life cycle assessment)?

Life cycle assessment is an analysis technique to assess environmental impacts associated with all the stages of a product's life, which is from raw material extraction through materials processing, manufacture, distribution, and use. We will teach you all you need to know about LCA!

What is a typical outcome of the program?

We hope that as many as possible of the companies would be interested in hiring the interns after the internship, but we can’t of course promise that. Anyway, the internship is a very good opportunity for a student to get experience and get a foot in the door in a company or an industry of their choice. As we are organising the internship for the first time, we don’t yet have any statistics on this.

Can I work remotely?

Yes, we offer both onsite and remote positions. The first two weeks (training) is fully remote, which after you start working for your company. This part of the internship can be fully or partially remote or onsite, depending on the company’s wishes.

Does the internship cost?

This internship is free of charge for you. The company that you will do your internship in will pay a fee for the program.

Is this opportunity unpaid or a paid internship?

This internship is unpaid. You will receive a unique two-week training by the best LCA experts in the world for free as well as the unique opportunity to kickstart your LCA career by interning at one of Europes / North Americas leading manufacturing or consulting companies. Some companies decide to pay a small internship compensation.
